Have you ever found yourself without a Lightning Cable for your iPhone and watched in despair as your battery dwindled away or your files remained untransferred? Acme Made has a solution with its Kickstarter-based project to create a Charge Case designed for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
The idea behind this iPhone 6 case is simplicity itself: The case is a basic polycarbonate matte frame in the expected iPhone shape, with all the gaps needed for cameras, buttons, etc. However, in the back of the case is a wedge that can be lifted out of the case surface. This little kickstand can serve admirably as a lever that props the phone up for easy viewing, but it’s the small, concealed compartment that offers the real benefit. Here a Apple Lightning Connector is hidden away, complete with a shielded USB end.
The connector is by no means long, but it is long enough to hook up your phone to your laptop and transfer a few quick files or power up an iPhone 6 that’s in danger of dying. It’s a design made for the mobile, business or college-minded consumer that may not always have immediate access to the necessary cables at crunch time.
The Charge Case comes in black (where the kickstand is a shiny black) and gray (where the kickstand is a shiny red) designs, and once again, comes in versions made for both the iPhone 6 and the supersized iPhone 6 Plus.
Please note: This Kickstarter campaign isn’t over yet, and still has a ways to go to met its goal of $5,000, with around a month of pledge time left. The reason to invest now? Sweet, sweet extras. The retail price is expected to be set at $50, but if you pledge $50 you can get two cases if all the numbers are met. If that’s a little too pricey for you, consider offering $25, which will at least let you reserve your own Charge case. This is a fully planned-out project, and the first units are expected to (hopefully) ship in March 2015.
